Cold weather can negatively affect the performance of your smartphone or tablet. Roskachestvo experts told socialbites.ca how to keep your gadget in good condition during the winter.
“Try to keep your device literally warm. If you are outside, it is better to keep your phone in your pocket. If you need to make a call, use a Bluetooth headset if possible,” Roskoshestvo advised.
The screen and other parts of the smartphone become more fragile due to cold and therefore may be damaged by impact or fall. To prevent this, you can purchase a special thermal cover that will provide thermal insulation for the device. Any fabric, knit, suede or synthetic cover that will keep the heat in is also suitable.
“Try to use your phone or tablet to a minimum in sub-zero temperatures. Devices feel most comfortable at temperatures above 0°C. When the temperature begins to drop, the smartphone “slows down” and the battery drains quickly. Experts say that if you leave your gadget in the cold, it may turn off completely.
It is also not recommended to leave the device in a cold car, as prolonged exposure to freezing can cause the technical components inside the device to malfunction.
When you enter a warm room from a cold environment, let the device gradually warm up to room temperature. It is not recommended to place it over the battery or other heat sources as it may cause condensation inside the device.
