Universal Pictures-owned studio Illumination is about to reach a “big deal” with Nintendo that will result in a feature film based on The Legend of Zelda game franchise. In this respect informs ComicBook publication citing insider Jeff Snyder. The new project will be a big-budget animated movie.
Nintendo’s decision to pull The Legend of Zelda, Super Mario Bros. It was due to the huge success of Movie. The project is the highest-grossing film of 2023 to date, as well as the highest-grossing video game adaptation of all time.
Details about the new deal between Nintendo and Illumination and the movie itself are not available. Snyder noted that only Nintendo would take “a lot of money” to license The Legend of Zelda.
The Legend of Zelda is a series of adventure video games set in the fantasy world of Hyrule. The main character in them is Link, the valiant swordsman who always saves Princess Zelda from trouble.
