Communication halls in Russia predicted massive closures

Mobile operators have appealed to mall owners with a request to reduce the rent by more than 50%, and they plan to close their communication stores in case of refusal. The newspaper writes about it “Kommersan”.

Infoline-Analytics CEO Mikhail Burmistrov said that in 2022 there will be a wave of closures of communication stores. According to him, operators currently have a total of about 18,000 lounges. “Most likely, their number will decrease by three thousand points by the end of the year,” said the expert.

Irina Burenko, commercial director of R4S Group (who manages street retail facilities) said that in March, owners received letters from operators requesting discounts. According to him, the owners of the premises in the shopping center will not accept the terms of the operators, since other companies will immediately buy their premises.

As an example, Burenko cited a situation where the operator expressed his intention to terminate the contract in the absence of a discount. The company changed its mind to close the shop a few days later when the area wanted to lease a network of pharmacies.

Previously, the used smartphone market increased 15% in 2021. Refurbished gadgets are gaining more and more popularity not only among buyers, but also among telecom operators.
