task list
The newest of the current offers is to add a task list to Telegram. The author of this attempt is user @yevhenyurcuk. Considering that Messenger is used for both personal and business purposes, introducing such a functionality could be beneficial for a wide range of people.
For example, tasks set by superiors can be highlighted in a separate message where you can mark the progress of their implementation. It can also be useful for personal notes – you can create a wish list or create a shopping list before you go to the store so you don’t forget anything.
Shared chat folder
When new users come to Telegram, it can be difficult for them to find new useful and necessary channels. Some users seek help in conversations with acquaintances or friends with whom they have direct common interests.
To solve this problem, users @iceDSGN and @marzaganoff suggested their concept that you can share entire channel folders. The designers believe this feature can help exchange many Telegram channels and chats quickly and flexibly, and share a selection of genres.
Various profile photos
Many users use messaging for both personal and business contacts. However, some of them are faced with a problem – some of their favorite pictures that I want to set as avatars are not suitable for serious business correspondence.
Designer @Meh7an proposed a solution to the management of the messenger – posting different profile photos for selected contacts and other Telegram users. Introducing such functions can really help differentiate between personal and business.
status with emoji
The statuses and emoji next to the profile photo are a useful element of interaction that many users do not have. A Telegram user with the nickname @grshn suggested adding the ability to leave a text message on his account to let people know if it’s available. For example, an employee of the company will be able to indicate that he is on vacation and fix the number of his substitute colleague on the status. The designer demonstrated this using the example of one of her links – the girl in her situation noted that she was at a party, and so it’s more appropriate for her to respond to this emoji with voice messages accompanied by a cracker.
NFTs
At the beginning of 2022, the developers of the social network Twitter announced the possibility of placing users’ NFT tokens as profile avatars. Enthusiasts @gbotston and @Edu918 believe Telegram should have a similar tool and recommend using Tonkeeper and Tonhub wallets for this.
scrolling text
Although Telegram has special long reads for large text posts, most channels continue to publish regular posts with text that doesn’t fit the screen and doesn’t always display from the beginning.
Messenger user @menakhovsky suggested adding a post scroll button to Telegram so you can easily “jump” to the beginning of the text.
new design for android
According to designer @iceled, the implementation of Telegram profiles on Android currently has several issues. For example, creating a voice chat is only possible via a drop-down menu, and the button to go to channel chat and the button to open chat with users are similar, which can be confusing.
To do this, he proposes to use the new design in the Android version, which is in many ways similar to the messenger version on iOS.

news feed
Telegram users have long requested to add a news feed to the messenger that will gather posts from all channels in one place. Last year, the messenger introduced the ability to switch from one channel to another while reading the first one, but that’s not exactly what users want.
Stream is a conceptual tab suggested by user @satuurn5 that lets you view posts from all channels in one place. It is recommended that the publications be ordered chronologically or according to the number of views and comments. Folders can be supported in the feed, so you can divide them according to features, for example, news or thematic channels.
The concept also introduces a new #headlines feature that groups all posts in the feed for that day and displays them as scrolling cards with an image and the first lines from the post. According to the designer, all these features can make viewing content as efficient as possible and ensure that the user does not miss any news.
It is noteworthy that something similar was previously available in one of the third-party Telegram clients that are no longer active.
Lost Mail
When Telegram users leave a channel to reply to a message, they lose the post they’ve read before. Designers @gurick and @orljoy presented their solution to this problem to the messenger’s management.
According to their idea, if you slide your finger over the name of the person whose message the user is reading, you can go back to where he entered the chat.
news and photos
The concept of ‘News’ and ‘Photos’ tabs suggested by designer @alxlg echoes some of the ‘Feed’ ideas suggested earlier. Thus, in the “News” section, broadcasts from all channels the user subscribed to could be displayed. The Photos tab only shows photos and possibly videos from channels, but with a more Instagram-like interface.

“auditory story”
In connection with the blocking of Instagram in Russia, many users of the social network lost the ability to view and shoot their favorite Stories. Author’s concept @HatamAlijanpour offers a solution to this problem – he believes Telegram developers should add the ability to post audio stories in the profile header. It could also be some kind of supplement to the “About Me” section.
Video 2.0 in a circle
Designers @edu918, @Dima_797 and @kondratyevdev also adhere to the notion that most users really don’t have enough Stories. They proposed expanding the capabilities of “circle videos” by simultaneously increasing the size and aspect ratio of the video to 9:16.
The concept offers video recording without taking your finger off the screen, zooming in and out, turning the camera from front to back, locking the screen while recording. It is stated that users can also edit recorded videos, add color correction or draw on them.
The video messages currently available on Telegram vaguely resemble the “stories” functionality, but are still far from the original.
This is a messenger, not a social network
Digital expert Konstantin Karpov, in an interview with socialbites.ca, expressed the opinion that Telegram is not a social network, but a messenger whose main problem is not the number of functions, but ways to monetize content.
“Telegram should be thought of as a messenger, not a social network. Little “feature” [добавление функций] is not the subject of discussion. Durov’s team is quite coping with the progressive evolution of the messenger: it gets better and more convenient with each update. In my opinion, Telegram has long lacked functionality, not monetization. Maintaining the operation of such a large platform is significant money that tends to expire if not renewed,” Karpov says.
Eldar Murtazin, a leading analyst at Mobile Research Group, shares a similar view. In a conversation with socialbites.ca, he noted that the messenger of Pavel Durov “lacks ordinary servers” due to the constant increase in the number of users.
“Telegram is now under load as it is growing much faster than any app or social network in the world today, this is evident. Based on that, [мессенджер] You need to provide servers. There is a concept, there is also an understanding of how to place this or that content. This content always has a cost and you can turn Telegram into something like Instagram with video and photos. But this causes the burden [на сервис] it will grow many times, and the messenger itself will not attract it. Some of the proposed functions may even be useful, but the problem is that in life they encounter the economics of this solution, ”concluded Murtazin.
