Originally expected for September this year, Nintendo said, ‘Xenoblade Chronicles 3‘ for 29 July of this year. Along with the announcement, the Japanese company also released a new official trailer that showcases some of the new mechanics of the role-playing game. The title should return to a vast open world full of dangers as one of its distinct elements. The main change from previous chapters comes from the addition of a new mechanic (Ouroboros Form) that will now allow you to join two characters from a group of 6 characters total.
Nintendo didn’t explain in detail how the new mechanic works, but made it clear that it’s an integral part of the Xenoblade Chronicles story and universe. While it should be relevant to other games in the series, the developer has so far not revealed how it will be handled, leaving players to explore the details.
Xenoblade Chronicles 3 gets its official recap
Alongside releasing the game’s new trailer, Nintendo also unveiled its official recap, which helps to understand a little more about its history. “Players will replace the heroes Noah and Mio and find themselves in the conflict between the nations of Keves and Agnus. Six characters from both nations will join forces to uncover the true cause of the conflict and travel to Fendespada, a land split by a giant sword.”
Another distinguishing feature of ‘Xenoblade Chronicles 3’ in relation to previous chapters is the class system, which will allow for greater flexibility: for example, a character who starts out as a swordsman doesn’t have to play that role forever. According to the developer, the game is set in the future of its universe and promises to solve some of the dilemmas regarding the fate of the world shown in previous games. Although the series started on the Wii, all episodes are now playable on Nintendo Switch. The latest release is ‘Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition’, a remake of the first game to hit stores on May 29, 2020.
