Pavel Durov, founder of Telegram messenger topped the rating 100 Most Influential People in Dubai by Arabian Business.
“With a capital of $15.1 billion, Durov became known as Russian Mark Zuckerberg after he founded Russia’s largest social network VKontakte at the age of 22. Then, in 2013, it launched Telegram, an instant messaging service that supports end-to-end encryption of messages, video and voice calls,” says Durov’s card.
In 2017, he moved to Dubai, where he received UAE citizenship in February 2021. This made Durov a citizen of four countries – Russia, United Arab Emirates, France and Saint Kitts and Nevis.
In addition to Durov, fighter Conor McGregor, Dubai Duty Free CEO Colm McLaughlin, bloggers, construction magnates, and others came to the top.
