WhatsApp added a feature to bypass blocking 11:55

WhatsApp has officially added a new feature to bypass the blocking – the ability to connect via a proxy server. This has been officially announced blog application developers.

“Connecting via proxy provides the high level of privacy and security that WhatsApp provides. Your private messages will continue to be protected by end-to-end encryption,” WhatsApp representatives assured.

It is noted that connecting through a proxy server is often used for additional protection when working on the network, but this solution also allows you to bypass blocking.

The new feature comes after WhatsApp and Instagram were blocked in Iran at the end of 2022 (the owner of Meta was recognized as extremist and banned in Russia) due to protracted mass protests in the country. The company is convinced that such a decision by Tehran is a human rights violation.

Messenger’s representatives have also posted instructions on how to create and configure their own proxy servers on the blog. Connection through a proxy is already available in new versions of the application for smartphones on iOS and Android.

It was previously reported that WhatsApp work on the application Bookmark icon in Messenger so that users can see in correspondence what messages have been saved by the interlocutor.
