On June 6, Zagitova publicly expressed an interest in exploring coaching as a new avenue, signaling a transition from athlete to mentor that could shape the next generation of skaters. Then, on June 19, she completed a significant academic milestone by defending her thesis, earning an excellent grade for a diploma titled “Production and Cultural Policy.” This achievement highlights her engagement with broader cultural and administrative dimensions of sport, beyond performance on the ice.
Zagitova rose to Olympic glory in 2018, a year that cemented her as one of the sport’s most influential figures. In addition to her Olympic gold, she has gold medals from the 2019 World Championships and a gold and silver from the 2018 and 2019 European Championships. She remains the first and only Russian skater to master all major world titles in single-skaters’ competition on her own, and she stands as the second skater in history, after Kim Yong Ah, to achieve sweeping titles across world championships.
