This Sunday, January 29, a fresh edition of the Villa de Crevillent International Motocross arrives with the full backing of the Alicante Provincial Council for another year. The event gathers renowned figures in the sport such as Ander Valentín and Unai Larrañaga, drawing riders from across Spain and beyond. The competition will take place at the El Cossil Circuit, a historic track in the Valencian Community, stretching 1,600 meters with challenging bumps and a setup that emphasizes safety and technical difficulty. The format welcomes racers of every skill level, from absolute beginners to seasoned veterans, turning the day into a true festival of speed and skill. The sports representative Bernabe Canoe outlined the details of this test, noting its status as one of the most relevant, competitive, and well-established fixtures on the national calendar. The presence of FMCV president Carmelo Fernández, along with Francisco Carreres, president of Club Moto Sport Carreres, and Crevillent mayor Jose Manuel Penalty, underscored the city’s commitment to motocross and its growing recognition on the map of national sport.

In this context, Francisco Carreres highlighted that the event has grown steadily, with around sixty pilots registered to date, including participants from several European countries and even Australia. The organizers hope to reach eighty entrants who will compete in the MX-1, MX-2, MX-3, MX-125, MX-85 and MX-65 categories. The ambitious turnout reflects the event’s appeal across generations of riders and its role as a bridge between regional, national, and international motocross communities.
Carmelo Fernández framed the gathering as a pivotal starting point for the motocross season across Spain, emphasizing that this edition marks a milestone and stands among the best events of the year. The competition will serve as a qualifying round for the Valencia Community motocross championship, maintaining a tradition of high-level racing and strong regional support.
As in previous years, the race pays tribute to José Manuel Pérez known as Carni, an Elche rider who lost his life in a Dakar Rally accident in 2005. The memorial adds a poignant note to the event, reminding competitors and fans alike of the risks involved and the enduring spirit of the sport.
Finally, José Manuel Penalva expressed gratitude for the Alicante Provincial Council’s continued support, describing the event as a special opportunity that brings Crevillent closer to the world of motocross and helps place the town on both national and international stages. The collaboration underscores a shared belief that sport can unite communities, showcase local talent, and foster growth within the regional motorsport ecosystem.
