In May, Lucentum marks its 30th anniversary since being founded by Paco Pastor and later transformed into a Foundation by Toni Gallego and Daniel Adriasola. For half of its life, the Alicante club collaborated with Meridiano Seguros, which became a sponsor and even gave the team its name in the ACB. The ASV Group company has supported Lucentum for 15 years, standing as an inseparable partner. This Alicante institution continues to push forward in its quest to return to the top tier in the near future, with Meridiano playing a pivotal role in stabilizing the club’s youth system and broader sporting, economic, and social development.
Meridiano Seguros reaffirmed its commitment to Alicante basketball for another year, extending a 15-season partnership with the Lucentum Baloncesto Foundation. The renewal was made official last Friday, during halftime of the match against Cáceres at the Pedro Ferrándiz pavilion, in front of about 250 boys, girls, and their coaches.
“When the decision to support basketball in Alicante was taken in 2009, the aim was to promote the values and benefits of sport, especially among the youngest. Today, 15 years later, we feel part of the Lucentum family across all categories and remain devoted to this vibrant sports project,” stated Sonia Carricondo, Head of Communications and CSR at Grupo ASV.
Since its founding in 2009, Meridiano has supported Lucentum every season, reinforcing a relationship that has anchored Meridiano as one of Alicante’s most loyal sponsors and a vital driver of the club’s growth, particularly within its youth divisions.
“As the Lucentum Baloncesto Foundation, we thank Meridiano for its year‑after‑year commitment to Alicante basketball. Those strong ties strengthen the sport and motivate us to keep promoting the club from the grassroots level,” commented Daniel Adriasola, president of Lucentum Alicante.
Insurance Company Meridiano Renews Sponsorship with Lucentum
Under this renewed agreement, Lucentum’s youth squads across all age groups—inclusive of youth, student, teen, junior, and younger categories—continue to wear Meridiano’s logo on their uniforms, as they did in the 2023-2024 season. Meridiano, an insurer founded in Andalusia in 1966, has grown to operate more than 60 own offices, 150 distinguished agencies, and 700 professionals. It is part of Grupo ASV, a respected national presence with nearly nine decades of experience. The company is recognized for values like humility, respect, teamwork, and responsibility, and remains Lucentum’s most loyal sponsor, significantly supporting the club’s development with a focus on youth programs.
Support for the Half Marathon
In addition to basketball sponsorship, Meridiano Seguros serves as the main sponsor for this year’s Alicante Half Marathon, scheduled for the 18th of the month. The event gathers more than 3,000 runners taking off from Pier 12 at Alicante Port at 9:30 a.m. The race includes 10- and 21-kilometer routes, with the Alicante anthem performed beforehand. The course, approved by the Royal Spanish Athletics Federation, provides runners with a platform to showcase their personal brands. More than 200 volunteers will assist along the 21-kilometer route, helping participants through the more demanding segments and ensuring a smooth experience for all. The event, branded as the Corridor Fair by organizers, will take place at Pier 12, and roughly 8,000 attendees are expected over the weekend.
