Leicester City Weighs a Serious Bid for Chilean Talent Dario Osorio

One of the brightest talents from the secular quarry has another opportunity to push his career onto European soil.

Last year, before the 2022/2023 Premier League season began, Universidad de Chile rejected Wolverhampton Wanderers’ bid for Dario Osorio. He himself wanted to pause and weigh his next move, while delivering a standout stint for León in the first half of 2022. His form dipped afterward, yet he remained a starter as his club narrowly avoided relegation for a fourth straight season. Half a year later, the club turned down a 6 million euro offer from AC Milan, and the interest persisted. Now Leicester City is pressing to recruit him, aiming to bring in the winger/attacking midfielder who wears the number 11 and trains daily at the Blue Sports Center.

The Foxes are reportedly ready to bid close to 7 million for Osorio, a sum Universidad hears with cautious optimism, especially after a tense first phase in the market. The deal would secure 100% of the midfielder’s rights, with Osorio able to operate as an attacking playmaker, a winger on either flank, or a second striker, offering versatility across several formations.

Throughout his career, Osorio has tallied eight goals for the club that developed him and has earned caps for Chile in friendlies against Tunisia, Ghana, and Poland. Even as Leicester City faced a real fight to stay in the Premier League, they continued preparing for pre-season, with fixtures lined up against sides like Tottenham and Liverpool as a test of their readiness. Could this Chilean jewel be the next big move for a club looking to inject fresh talent into its squad? — Goal
