Carlos Mazón, president of the Alicante Provincial Assembly, announced on Tuesday that the regional government is coordinating with La Vuelta organizers to welcome a new Denia stage in the 2023 edition. “We contacted the La Vuelta director to ensure Denia could host a key stage that promotes our Marina Alta region and the Valencian Community”
In recent years the race has passed through several municipalities within the province. The 2019 edition began in Torrevieja after notable imagery featuring its salt flats, and this region has since hosted Stage 2 and Stage 3, linking Benidorm to Calpe and Ibi to Alicante. The Costa Blanca has repeatedly welcomed La Vuelta, including stages staged in Santa Pola and Elche in 2021 and 2022 respectively. The most recent finish along the coast drew significant economic activity, with thousands of visitors and staff staying in local hotels for multiple days and contributing to the regional economy.
