The Italian Olympic Committee, through the Sports Guarantee Council, canceled the sentence on Thursday. Juventus of Turin faced a deduction of 15 points in Serie A as part of the ongoing Plusvalias case, and a new ruling was ordered at the Federal Court of Appeal.

Italian media outlets, including La Gazzetta dello Sport, confirmed the council’s decisions. While awaiting the Federal Supreme Court decision, Juventus would temporarily recover the 15 points, moving back to third place with 59 points, sitting 16 behind league leaders Napoli.

The Federazione Italiana Giuoco Calcio, FIGC, had sanctioned Juventus on January 20. In light of the Federal Supreme Court review, the 15-point deduction in the Serie A table remained under consideration as prosecutors reiterated their request in the Plusvalias case.

In January an official statement from the Court of Appeal outlined a series of prohibitions affecting 11 Juventus executives and imposed a two-year sanction on Andrea Agnelli. The Attorney General had requested a nine-point penalty for the league table position, intensifying scrutiny on the management and governance of the club.

Andrea Agnelli, the former Juventus president who stepped down from the board in November 2022, faces renewed attention amid investigations into financial practices. The club, historically known as Vecchia Signora, has faced demotions and title removals stemming from a 2006 match-fixing scandal. Current inquiries focus on overvalued transfers and understated employee costs in relation to fair market values.

The latest case, often referred to as the capital gains lawsuit, has also seen eight other clubs acquitted before the Court of Appeal. These clubs include Sampdoria, Pro Vercelli, Genoa, Parma, Pisa, Empoli, Novara, and Pescara, along with their directors and coaches who were cleared of wrongdoing while Juventus remains under close watch for potential additional charges or penalties.
