Escobar: “Winter markets are shaking the workforce, you have to work in silence”
Hercules faces a crucial showdown this Sunday on the hardwood of Atlético Saguntino. The primary objective is to demonstrate the progress shown in the closing rounds of 2022 and to secure three points as the new calendar year takes its first steps. The team has been navigating a tough stretch, and the recent fixtures have offered a clearer picture of the adjustments the squad has made. The defense has emerged as the backbone of the squad this season, drawing particular attention during the winter transfer window. While the club pursues additional defensive cover, Sagunto proves a test of organization and discipline at the back. Right now, only Dani Marín and Oriol Riera are fully fit among the defensive corps in the last two matches. Truyols and Dylan are not travel options, forcing the coach to improvise if one of the regulars cannot suit up for the clash.
The club had hoped to bolster this line for the season’s opening game, but that plan did not come to fruition. Sunday passed without any new signings, and the hope remains to bring in two or three players in the near term. Escobar has been clear that reinforcements did not arrive after the winter window opened; the focus was on preserving stability and preventing any regress. The emphasis remains on making precise moves in the transfer market to prepare for the second half of the campaign.
“We have a straightforward plan of action. We will not abandon it or make rash changes for the sake of it. We are not naming exact positions to reinforce to avoid unsettling the squad, but if a move is needed, we will proceed with deliberate choices and keep the core group intact,” the coach explained.

On another note, UD Alzira announced yesterday that a striker previously with La Nucía — who had shared the field with Hércules earlier this season — has joined Aketxe. The Basque forward, a former Hércules player, signed with the Valencia club through the end of the season after parting ways with La Nucía, where he appeared in eight games and scored one goal.
