Elche squad starts preparing for Friday’s Betis match

Elche is in the middle of a second week training session ahead of the upcoming clash with Real Betis on Friday at 21:00, played at the Martínez Valero stadium. The session proceeds without Randy Nteka, who has been dealing with muscle discomfort since he left the field in the 66th minute of the previous game against Real Madrid. He began the match in the starting lineup but had to leave early due to the issue.

The Franchiverde striker had already been a slight doubt over the past week and took part in only about 20 minutes of the last match, held on Sunday against Espanyol at Martínez Valero, a game Elche lost 0 to 1. He entered the field in the 75th minute, showed limited involvement, and was viewed as a reserve option at the time of the latest update.

To present

This week Randy Nteka could not step onto the grass and did not join the team drills, ruling him out of the potential final decision for the upcoming Betis match. The forward is currently working in the gym. The next practice is scheduled for Friday. Coach Pablo Machín is not expected to include him in the starting lineup, though there is a possibility he could come off the bench near the end of the game if circumstances allow. The club has not released any official injury update regarding Nteka.

Elche is now training on the Díez Iborra football field

There are two others who were absent from the session. The training day began at 10:30 a.m. at the Díez Iborra field, with recovering players continuing to work under the supervision of the club’s coaches. Players Milla and Carmona were not cleared to participate in the Betis clash at this stage.

Mendoza, left, is the only local player to train with Elche CF under Machín

Neither John Chetauya nor local talents Jony Álamo and Javi Pamies will be available for the next match. Other squad members took part in the same training session as directed by Machín, focusing on conditioning, tactical drills, and ball work. The team is preparing to deliver a strong performance in front of their home fans and to close the gap ahead of the Betis showdown.
