Boca Juniors clinched the trophy by defeating Patronato, securing the title for the second time in its history.
The Argentine Super Cup for 2012 brought together two clubs with very different trajectories: Boca, dominators of 2022 and eager to chase more glory in 2023, and Patronato, then competing in the second division.
Created to complement the revival of the Argentine Cup in 2011, the competition pits the league champion against the cup winner. In the last edition, Boca and River met in a record clash, with Núñez’s side becoming the only team to win it twice. The Boquenses share that milestone now.
SUPER CUP 2012: BOCA 0 (3) – (4) 0 ARSENAL
Under Julio Falcioni, Boca appeared unbeatable after taking the 2011 Apertura and the 2011–12 Argentine Cup, despite a Libertadores final loss to Corinthians. On the other side, the Viaducto achieved a major feat by winning the Clausura 2012, earning a place in the first Super Cup against Boca. After a goalless draw in Catamarca, Arsenal prevailed on penalties when Colazo failed his spot kick. (Goal)
