Alicante City Council has approved a six-line package of financial aid in the sports field, enabling a distribution of 1.6 million euros across clubs in the province. The council reinforces its commitment to these organizations, with which it cooperates annually to sustain their functions and develop their activities through diverse plans and grant programs for which the application window has now opened.

Forecasts for this year project an investment of 600,000 euros in collaboration with local clubs and federations. The plan covers event organization and targeted programs in areas of special interest, includingWorld, European, or Spanish championships. The deputy for the region explained that the goal is to attract high-profile competitions and tournaments that carry strong social impact, bringing notable economic, tourism, and media attention while featuring top athletes.

The provincial body also ensures upliftment and reinforcement of sports organizations. It will support their activities and participation in official federated competitions through a dedicated fund. For instance, 350,000 euros will help offset the costs of transporting equipment.

Notably, there is a 600,000-euro item for organizing events of special interest and a 350,000-euro line to promote activities and participation in official federation competitions.

Additionally, the Provincial Assembly will allocate 345,000 euros to cover expenses for senior and elite men’s and women’s teams taking part in national or European leagues, and 50,000 euros to energize and support organizations that promote inclusive and tailored sports for region residents with physical, mental, or intellectual disabilities.

The aid plan for non-professional men’s and women’s football clubs includes a collaboration call with a 150,000-euro allocation, which is 10,000 euros more than in 2022. There is also a dedicated amount of 100,000 euros for the promotion of water sports, with the remaining two approved programs designed to broaden participation.

The framework for all these calls, with applications due by March 28, is published in the Electronic Office of the Alicante Diputación.
