The Microsoft Corporation has changed the VBS enclave function policy, which ensures critical data in the operating system. According to updated documentation, the technology will no longer be available in Windows 11 23h2 and earlier assemblies, only kept in the current version of 24h2 and new.
With VBS enclaves you can make protected areas for storing passwords, coding keys and other confidential content, which blocks access to other applications and even the kernel of the system. This reduces the risks of data leaks in malware attacks.

For most users, innovation remains unobtrusive – daily tasks are not influenced. However, the developers whose applications use this technology are confronted with limitations: without supporting VBS enclaves in the old versions of the operating system, individual functions of their programs can work incorrectly. Testing such solutions is now only possible at Windows 11 24H2.
Experts emphasize that Microsoft does not add new security mechanisms to 24h2, but the existing redistribution. This is a non -standard step: instead of stimulating updates by improvements, the company limits the functionality of outdated versions. Windows 11 23h2 will continue to receive corrections until November 11, 2025. However, the absence of VBS and claves makes it more vulnerable compared to 24h2. To minimize risks, a transition to the current version is recommended until the end of the support.
