AMD is preparing to release new Ryzen 9 9950X3D and 9900X3D processors based on the Zen 5 architecture. The presentation is expected in early January at CES 2025, and the release of the chips is scheduled for the end of the month. These processors are intended for gamers and users who work on resource-intensive tasks.
The Ryzen 9 9950X3D will offer 16 cores and 32 threads with a total of 144 MB of cache, which is significantly higher than the standard Ryzen 9 9950X (80 MB). The 9900X3D model will have 12 cores and 24 threads, and the cache size will be 140 MB, versus 76 MB for the standard 9900X. The main feature of both new products is the use of 3D V-Cache technology, which increases the cache size through additional layers, as well as an unlocked power multiplier, which allows you to further overclock the processors.

Technically, the processors are equipped with two chiplets, but only one of them has 3D V-Cache. This required adjustments to the Windows scheduler so that games would use cores with an extended cache and the remaining cores would be connected only for background tasks. In addition, motherboard manufacturers have introduced X3D Turbo mode, which disables SMT and the second chiplet to improve gaming performance.
AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D and 9900X3D processors will complement the 3D V-Cache line, which has already gained popularity thanks to the Ryzen 7 9800X3D model. The new products will be an interesting solution for users who need a balance between gaming and multi-core performance. Price and exact specifications have not yet been announced. Previously, the Ryzen 7 9800X3D was released, the cost of which is $ 479 (about 48,000 rubles).
