Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Chechen fighter Khamzat Chimaev defeated Australian Robert Whittaker in the co-main event of the UFC 308 tournament in Abu Dhabi.
The fight ended in the first round when Chimaev forced his opponent to submit after a painful hold.
Chimaev earned his 14th victory in 14 MMA fights. Robert Whittaker suffered his 8th defeat in 34 matches.
Whittaker had 27 wins and eight losses. In his last fight, Whittaker lost to Russian Ikram Aliskerov. The fight took place on June 22, 2024. The fate of the fight was decided in the first round. Whittaker needed 1 minute and 47 seconds to win.
On October 21, 2023, Chimaev defeated Nigerian Kamaru Usman by decision in the co-main fight of the night at the UFC 294 tournament in Abu Dhabi (UAE). The fight lasted for three rounds. Chimaev won by decision.
