Russian swimmer Nikita Konovalov announced that he should go to the Olympic Games Metatifications.
“The mayor of Paris said he did not expect Russians to participate in the Olympics. This is also a manifestation of Nazism that needs to be fought in a different way. ‘We need to go and win,’ Konovalov said.
At the end of February 2022, the International Olympic Committee issued an appeal to international sports federations, recommending that Russian and Belarusian athletes should not be allowed to participate in any competitions. The organization decided to accept Russians and Belarusians as neutral athletes at the 2024 Olympic Games at the end of 2023. To participate, they must meet a number of conditions and qualify.
As an alternative, Russia has created the Friendship Games format. The first Friendship Games are scheduled to be held in Moscow and Yekaterinburg from September 15 to 29, 2024. The initiator and coordinator of the Friendship Games is the International Friendship Association (IFA). On June 7, the general director of the organizing committee of the Friendship Games, Alexey Sorokin, confirmed the information that the event will be postponed.
