Metallurg Magnitogorsk forward Nikita Grebenkin has signed a deal with National Hockey League (NHL) club Toronto Maple Leafs. Journalist Chris Johnston wrote about this on his social networks.
“Nikita Grebenkin signed a three-year entry-level contract with the Leafs. It is effective immediately,” Johnston wrote.
Last season, Grebenkin made 90 appearances for Metallurg and scored 22 goals. He also made 24 assists.
Metallurg won the 2024 Gagarin Cup by beating Lokomotiv Yaroslavl in the fourth match of the final series. On the way to the final, Metallurg beat Khabarovsk Amur, Spartak and Avtomobilist.
Metallurg won the Gagarin Cup three times. Magnitogorsk reached the cup in 2014 and 2016.
Previously, the winner of the Gagarin Cup was CSKA Moscow. On the 100th anniversary of its establishment on April 29, 2023, the Ordu team won the cup by winning against Ak Bars Kazan in the seventh match of the final series. This season, both teams were eliminated in the first round.
