Former Russian national team forward Dmitry Bulykin spoke with the head coach of the national team Valery Karpin about contract extension. His words are quoted “Bookmaker rating”.
“The merger benefits no one, it harms both the club and the national team. Of course I am against this. There is nothing like it anywhere in the world, and this, as a rule, does not lead to anything good. However, if there is no other coach, Karpin must stay. “It’s up to the RFU to decide, but I can’t appoint a coach to the club,” Bulykin said.
Karpin, who became head coach of Rostov in July 2021, led the Russian national team. He initially planned to combine studies in the national team and Rostov, but in early August he announced that he decided to focus on the national team, after which he left the club. After his suspension from the Russian national team, he again began to combine the two positions. The expert’s contract will continue until the end of July 2024.
Under his leadership, the national team managed to qualify for the play-offs in the 2022 World Cup, but could not participate due to suspension.
In March, the Russians played a friendly match with the Serbian national team and won with a score of 4:0.
Previously Nepomniachtchi appreciated Karpin’s work in the Russian national team.
