Polish tennis player Iga Swiatek lost sensationally to 19-year-old Czech tennis player Linda Noskova in the third round match of the Australian Open with scores of 6:3, 3:6, 4:6.
The duration of the meeting lasted 2 hours and 22 minutes. Swiatek served four times, committed a double-fault and converted two of seven break points. Noskova had 10 aces, 4 double faults and three break points out of the seven points won.
In the next round, Noskova will play the winner of the match between Elina Svitolina (Ukraine) and Victoria Golubich (Switzerland).
Three Russians reached the 1/8 finals: Maria Timofeeva, Mirra Andreeva and Anna Kalinskaya. Among the participants was the world’s second racket, Belarusian Arina Sabalenka.
Iga Swiatek continues to lead the updated WTA Women’s Tennis Association rankings. Belarusian representative Arina Sabalenko took second place, while Elena Rybakina from Kazakhstan completed the top three. The best Russian woman is Daria Kasatkina (13th place).
