Fernando Vicente, coach of Russian tennis player Andrei Rublev, talked about working with the athlete during the pandemic. His words are quoted tennis majors.
“During the pandemic, Andrey and I worked full time for three months. When Covid started, I came to my tennis club for work. They gave me permission because they needed to take care of the area. Andrei also arrived with a car full of water, so if the police caught him they could say he came from the supermarket. “And we met like this every day,” Vicente said.
Rublev, like all Russian tennis players, performs in international tournaments in a neutral status. On December 24, Daniil Medvedev won the World Tennis League tournament in Abu Dhabi together with Mirra Andreeva and American Sofia Kenin.
In the rankings of the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP), Rublev is in fifth place with 4,805 points. Serbian Novak Djokovic continues to lead with 11,245 points. Spanish Carlos Alcaraz ranks second with 8,855 points. Daniil Medvedev (7,600 points) completed the top three.
