The new system creates realistic stress scenarios in which users can apply self-help strategies: wearing VR/R-OCH, a person in front of a digital audience or at a virtual stage in imitating a complex conversation. “Most of the current mental practices put a person in an idealized area – a beach or forest,” Anna Fang said. “But in this real life, he does not teach you to cope with stress. We want people to study real ones in similar conditions as much as possible.”
The team examined the three most stressful scenarios: public speeches, participation in unusual social activities and personal conflicts. 24 prototypes with 24 interaction levels were created – from completely immersion to virtual reality to text interfaces. In interactive versions, virtual characters can talk to users using the AI language model and express emotions using realistic facial expressions and movements.
Test technology on 19 volunteers showed great awareness and self -confidence. Many want to be able to use the application in real places – for example, give a speech in the same room where it will be done soon.
Researchers hope that their projects will adapt their self -help skills to more affordable and real life.
