According to Football.ua, former Dynamo Kiev head coach Mircea Lucescu believes that we should go back to the times when clubs in Russia and Ukraine played friendly tournaments.
“I remember the time when Russian and Ukrainian teams played friendly tournaments. It was a great time, we should get back to it. Lucescu said we need to do something to get back to that.
Lucescu took over Dinamo in the summer of 2020. During this time, he led the team to victory in the national championship, as well as the Ukrainian Cup and the Super Cup. He left the club on 3 November. Before that, he worked for Dynamo’s main rival in the Ukrainian championship, Shakhtar, for 12 years. He and his team won 21 national championships and won the UEFA Cup in the 2008/09 season.
The expert also played for the Turkish national team, Istanbul Galatasaray, Inter Milan and other teams. He coached Zenit from 2016 to 2017.
The International Football Federation (FIFA) and the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) have decided to suspend the participation of the Russian national team and all Russian clubs in all competitions controlled by these organizations. Clubs will no longer participate in European cups and the national team will no longer participate in international tournaments.
