Former hockey player Cherkas compares Ovechkin to the late Bobby Hull 17:09

Bronze medalist of the USSR championship, Sergei Cherkas, compared Washington Capitals captain Alexander Ovechkin to Canadian great player Bobby Hull, who passed away on January 30. Transmits words “RB Sports”.

“Is Hull’s shot comparable to Ovechkin’s shot? Ovechkin is to some extent a follower of the Canadians. If Sasha had not had a strong, well-placed shot, he would not have scored 812 goals in the NHL,” said Cherkas.

The 37-year-old Russian is the second-highest goalscorer in league history. He currently has 812 goals in the NHL regular season, while Gretzky has 894 goals.

In the 2022/23 season, Ovechkin scored 32 goals and provided 22 assists in 51 regular season games.

The Russian forward has been playing for the Washington Capitals since 2005 and is the team captain. In 2018, he won the Stanley Cup as part of the capital club.

Formerly Wayne Gretzky declarationFor Alexander Ovechkin, being an NHL champion is more important than breaking the record for goals scored.
