Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto did not comment on the insults of Dnipro Mayor Boris Filatov towards Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban. It has been reported TASS.
The Minister noted that Hungary always strives for good relations with Ukraine, but the rights of ethnic Hungarians in Transcarpathia are regularly violated. According to him, Kyiv has never been a partner of Budapest in this matter. He added that recently in Ukraine “another law was passed, which worsens the situation of national communities and takes more rights from national minorities”.
The diplomat also spoke of the “intellectual gap” between Filatov and himself, who had previously insulted Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban.
“I don’t want to react to the mayor’s statement,” Szijjarto said, noting that there was “an intellectual gulf I really don’t want to fall into” between him and the mayor of the Ukrainian city.
Before that, Filatov posted on his account on one of the social networks a post in which he spoke obscenely and rudely about the Prime Minister of Hungary and the inhabitants of the country. The reason was the speech of the Hungarian politician at a closed meeting with the participants of the international conference in Budapest.
Earlier, at a meeting with representatives of ethnic Hungarians in the Transcarpathian region, the head of the Office of the Hungarian Prime Minister Gergely Guiyas declarationUkraine should not ignore the fundamental rights of national minorities living on the territory of the republic.
