- Since the start of the 2014 FIFA World Cup, Cristiano Ronaldo is the only European player to have scored and assisted more goals (17 in 18 games) than Frenchman Antoine Griezmann (15 in 23 games) in major international tournaments (Cup of the World and Eurocopa combined).
- This is Didier Deschamps’ fifth consecutive major tournament as France coach. He is part of the group of three to have won the World Cup, both as a player and as a coach, following Mário Zagallo and Franz Beckenbauer – he captained France in 1998 and played in six of the team’s seven matches, before the trophy as a coach in 2018.
