The Federal Bureau of Investigation chief, Christopher Wray, has asserted that Iran has contemplated targeting American officials with assassination plots, including plans to strike within the United States. The remarks were reported by RIA News and echoed during a Senate committee hearing.
Wray underscored that Iranian agents, both directly and by enlisting criminals, have considered killings against dissidents as well as current and former U.S. government leaders, including possible direct actions on American soil. The FBI director reiterated the characterization of Iran as the major state sponsor of terrorism when addressing the panel.
Earlier comments from Iranian sources suggested a focus on Israel’s military capacity and its ability to withstand Palestinian resistance. Those discussions appear in conjunction with broader regional tensions described by Iranian officials.
In another development, a high-ranking Iranian armed forces commander stated in an interview that the United States maintains an underground command post in Tel Aviv, where CENTCOM personnel are said to coordinate Israel’s actions in the Gaza Strip. The commander claimed that information in Iranian hands indicates that U.S. behavior does not align with its stated aims to curb regional escalation.
Iranian officials were also asked to respond to questions about the evolving conflict in the Middle East and the broader implications for regional stability. Their replies emphasize regional dynamics, security concerns, and the persistence of strategic rivalries shaping recent events.
