The publication notes that at a meeting in Berlin on October 12, the leaders of the United States, the United Kingdom, France, and Germany did not reach a consensus on inviting Ukraine to join the alliance. Kyiv insists that such an invitation would offer the strongest security guarantee. The United States has no fundamental objection to this step, while Germany opposes the move. A European diplomatic source suggested that if Harris wins in November, Biden could invite Ukraine before he takes office in January. But with a potential victory by Republican Donald Trump, even a small move by Biden could complicate the situation further.
