From the candidacy of the Teixint Esquerra Transformadora al País Valencià led by Mari Ángeles Llorente in the Valencia district and Miguel Ángel Pavón in the Alicante district, a need to address the numerous events before and during the primaries has come to a head. Sunday the 27th will be the day for in-person voting. The low turnout, which limited supporter participation in the process or access to censuses and support for the EUPV candidate for Generalitat, has been particularly worrying. Rosa Pérez Garijo, despite the public visibility that a regional government councilor brings, did not exceed 33 percent of the total census. This is not a concern for the current coordinator Rosa Pérez Garijo, who notes that the militancy drifting away from the management of the organization weakens the magic and motivation, condemning the alternative candidacy in a public statement.
internal process
A horribly partial process has unfolded, to the point that Rosa Pérez’s manager rejected a letter from the United States proposing an alternative candidacy. After a complaint that the electoral board for these primaries consisted solely of three members aligned with Rosa Pérez Garijo’s candidacy, calls were made to pause the primaries on the grounds of violations of transparency, objectivity, and respect for the electorate. In turn, this casts doubt on all democratic principles.
A separate note highlights the complete obscurity and lack of transparency throughout the process, during which norms were approved by closing the approval of sympathizers while at the same time these norms were presented to the party body of EUPV for review and approval. This meant that half of the census was abruptly eliminated, contrasting with the previous primary, where the list supported by Rosa Pérez Garijo was defeated by a clear majority.
For these reasons, there is a call for collective reflection to usher in a new phase characterized by constructive debate, transparency, and internal democracy.
Rosa Pérez Garijo wins EUPV primaries
Mari Ángeles Llorente heads the alternative nomination slate, which has won multiple nominations and commands about 31 percent of the support. She is set to rank second on the EUPV list, and the team plans to continue work on reindustrialization, a sustainable energy transition, and the defense of workers. The program emphasizes constitutional rights, inclusive and high-quality public services, rational and sustainable environmental planning, and collaboration across agriculture, livestock, and fisheries, with investments in energy and regional governance. The slate also aligns with the Valencian electoral framework and aims to curb political layoffs while supporting municipal development.
The first deputy mayor of Cheste City Council says the aim is to safeguard militancy, deepen internal democracy, promote pluralism, and assign decisive roles to collectives. Llorente adds that from the outset the group will strive to ensure representatives in institutions reflect the image they project and serve citizens with honesty and courage.
top of list
The head of the list Teixint Esquerra Transformadora al País Valencià reiterates commitment to starting from programmatic agreements and unifying electoral strategies with open and transparent representation, always endorsed by the grassroots of the organizations and parties within the confluence. The appeal is to move away from narrow self-interest that can hinder solid, transformative options.
The nomination Teixint Esquerra Transformadora in the Country of Valencia, led for the presidency of the Generalitat by Mari Angeles Llorente X IV, reflects alignment with the Communist Party of the Country of Valencia (PCPV). For the Alicante and Valencia constituencies, Miguel Angel Pavón receives the same vote percentage as the list presidents, placing him second in both candidacies.
