In Ruda Śląska on Saturday, Beata Szydło, a former prime minister and member of Law and Justice, argued that without Silesia the state cannot win. She urged the audience to support PiS to secure the votes of Silesians and to back the party in the upcoming elections.
If Poland is to stay safe, develop, and ensure a secure future for families, she said, then voting for Law and Justice on October 15 is essential.
– Szydło made this appeal during the PiS convention in Ruda.
Declaration for the Silesian Province
During the gathering, PiS MPs and candidates presented a Declaration for the province. Silesia was highlighted for prioritizing the use of domestic coal as a transitional fuel, along with plans to expand mining and the processing of coking coal. The declaration also called for industrial development and cooperation with local authorities, transcending political divides.
In her remarks, the former prime minister noted that Ruda Śląska shares historical ties with the European Union that trace back to the European Coal and Steel Community. She described Ruda Śląska, home to the Ruda mine and Huta Pokoje, as a city whose history is written by mining and metallurgy. These industries and their facilities are crucial for the region and the country.
Szydło recalled that in 2015 Law and Justice participated in elections on platforms defending Poland’s mining sector, industry, and employment, and asserted that those goals were achieved. She argued that PiS remains committed to safeguarding the future of mining.
“We want a safe, developing mining industry.”
Her words stressed that Polish mining should be safe, expanding, and possessing future prospects. From the European Parliament’s perspective, she claimed that German energy and mining interests are prioritized over Polish ones, a situation she argued must be halted.
– she stated.
Beata Szydło affirmed the need for representatives in both European and national legislatures who understand that energy security depends on the growth of the mining sector, creating a pathway to the future. She emphasized that modern, safe, and adaptable mining is essential in today’s world.
She noted that PiS did not let Civic Platform destroy mining in 2015 and suggested a similar stance today.
We will defend employment in Silesia and give the region a chance to grow
– she stressed.
“We want Silesia to become more beautiful and change”
The MEP stated that Silesia has always played a pivotal role in Poland’s economic development. She expressed belief that this will continue. The aim is for Silesia to become more attractive and evolve. Silesia, she added, is about more than economics; it encompasses family, values, and culture. Here, in Silesia, the Polish heart truly beats.
Poland can take pride in how traditions are cultivated in Silesia, the rich culture present, and the significance of this place for economic growth, she added. To ensure this, strong representation in parliament is essential.
Szydło argued that in the European Parliament a harsh game of interests is at play, and Poland’s interests must be defended—covering independence, sovereignty, energy security, and economic progress. She announced plans to maximize Silesia’s potential and called for coordinated teamwork in this effort.
Some people fail to see that politics is a team effort. Poland must continue the policy direction started in 2015 and keep moving forward.
– she proclaimed, urging Silesians to vote in the upcoming parliamentary elections.
She asserted that Silesia, Polish identity, and national unity are closely linked.
Silesia is important for Poland, Poland for Silesia
For Poland, Silesia is highly significant, and for Silesia, Poland is essential.
– she affirmed, urging support for the candidates and PiS MPs present in the room: Marek Wesoły, Bożena Borys-Szopa, Teresa Glenc, Jerzy Polaczek, Grzegorz Gaża, Piotr Pyzik, Robert Warwas, Grzegorz Matusiak, and Piotr Czarnynoga.
They will always defend local businesses and regional interests
she assured.
The former prime minister advised voters to consider whether their lives are better and safer today when deciding to participate in the elections.
Safety remains the priority
– she emphasized. She criticized decisions in the European Parliament on the migration pact, arguing that Poland is currently best positioned to oppose unfavorable solutions at the EU level. This, she said, is a matter of safety.
– explained Szydło.
