Senate Chancellery Plans Five New Ecological Cars for Over a Million PLN
The Senate Chancellery intends to acquire five up-to-date, eco-friendly vehicles for a total budget of 1,020,000 PLN. A quota calculation document has just appeared on the Senate Procurement website, confirming the planned expenditure. Earlier reports had suggested a price slightly above 800,000 PLN, but the current procurement notice sets the higher figure as the target cap.
The procurement brief emphasizes that the chosen cars should be modern, environmentally friendly, and equipped with a wide array of electronic features. Given the estimated per-vehicle cost, the lineup appears to be priced around 200,000 PLN each. Buyers can expect interiors with light upholstery and a suite of safety and comfort technologies, including stability control, rain and twilight sensors, tinted rear windows, a reversing camera, and dual-zone or two-way climate control. The specification also calls for a hybrid propulsion system to balance performance with lower emissions. Bids are scheduled to be opened on April 3.
The move by Grodzki’s office has drawn attention in the context of recent budget-cut announcements affecting the Senate administration earlier in the year. Critics question whether funds allocated for the convenience of senators and office staff are being prioritized amid broader fiscal tightening, while supporters point to the long-term efficiency gains and environmental considerations of a modern fleet.
