The Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson, Maria Zakharova, stated that Moscow would respond to Germany’s action of blocking Russian media accounts abroad. She conveyed this message in an interview with the German news agency DPA. While outlining the plan for a response, Zakharova emphasized that the measures are not taken for pleasure, but rather as a necessary reply.

According to the agency, Zakharova did not reveal which media outlets had their accounts blocked by Germany. The discussion highlighted Moscow’s position that selective restrictions on Russian media abroad would not go unanswered.

Previously, Zakharova described Russia’s readiness to employ asymmetric measures in response to the blocking of accounts linked to the Russian embassy and the Russian trade mission in Poland. The diplomat argued that Polish authorities acted on an absurd pretext, citing alleged funds used to finance terrorism. She also stressed that these moves run against the long standing norms of civilized state interaction and violate legal standards.

Earlier reports from the Rzeczpospolita newspaper indicated that Poland had seized about 1.2 million dollars tied to the Russian embassy and the trade delegation. Media sources noted that the Polish prosecutor’s office froze approximately 800,000 PLN and more than $912,000, later transferring the funds to accounts identified as material evidence.
