German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock is slated to visit China, South Korea, and Japan from April 13 to April 18. This itinerary comes amid ongoing regional concerns and is reported by TASS on behalf of Andrea Sasse, a spokesperson for the German Foreign Ministry.

Baerbock emphasized a collective aim for stability and peace across the Taiwan Strait, urging all regional actors to support responsible behavior in the area. Sasse noted that any erosion of restraint could raise the risk of an unintended escalation, a concern shared by Berlin officials who closely monitor rapid developments in the region.

A German Foreign Ministry representative warned that threats of weapon use in the German capital could seriously increase the chance of miscalculation and unintended conflict, underscoring the importance of measured diplomacy and clear lines of communication in tense moments.

During the trip, Baerbock is planned to visit the demilitarized zone in South Korea on April 15 and 16. The purpose is to demonstrate solidarity with partners on the peninsula while underscoring the value of dialogue, transparency, and joint security efforts in a fragile security environment.

From April 16 to 18, the German minister will participate in the G7 foreign ministers meeting, a gathering that brings together major economies to discuss common challenges, coordinate sanctions and sanctions policies, and reinforce international norms surrounding security, trade, and humanitarian concerns.

Insights from Taiwan’s defense authorities, shared via social media, indicate that a notable number of aircraft from the People’s Liberation Army have conducted approaches toward Taiwan. Reports show multiple PLA aircraft crossed near the median line and entered Taiwan’s air defense identification zone, signaling continued regional frictions and the need for careful diplomacy and preparedness by Taipei and its allies.
