Russian President Vladimir Putin spoke with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan in two separate conversations. The discussions were confirmed by the press secretary for the Russian president, Dmitry Peskov, and reported by DEA News.
The calls took place on consecutive days, Thursday, March 24, and Friday, March 25, with both leaders focusing on regional security and political developments in the South Caucasus.
A Kremlin spokesperson indicated that the line of contact in Nagorno-Karabakh was a central topic during these exchanges, highlighting ongoing concerns about stability and humanitarian considerations in the area.
Earlier coverage noted that senior defense officials also discussed the situation. Reports indicated that the Russian defense minister, Sergei Shoigu, spoke with his Armenian counterpart, Suren Papikyan, to assess the status on the ground and coordinate possible steps to reduce violence and protect civilian lives.
On March 22, the Armenian Foreign Ministry reported that Azerbaijan had halted gas supplies to Nagorno-Karabakh in the Shushi region. The disruption affected about 120,000 residents during severe winter conditions, prompting humanitarian concerns and calls for sustained essential services and aid delivery.
Earlier, on March 12, Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Defense announced violations of the ceasefire in Nagorno-Karabakh, with incidents reported in the Khojavend and Terter directions, underscoring the fragile ceasefire framework and the need for renewed engagement among the involved parties.
