Absolute success in mail voting is evident in Alicante, where 46,414 residents exercised their right to vote remotely. Within the Valencian Community, a total of 170,518 verified postal votes were recorded, with the majority coming from Valencia proper, 107,684, and 16,420 originating in Castellón.

From these figures it is possible to estimate distribution across the region: 27.22 percent of the postal votes come from municipalities in Alicante, about 63.15 percent from towns in the province of Valencia, and 9.63 percent from Castellón municipalities.

Correos notes 450,000 votes not collected in offices

Total nationwide postal voting tallies reached 2,471,935 ballots cast by citizens for the general elections scheduled for Sunday, July 23. The votes cast represented 94.2 percent of accepted applications, the highest participation rate for a general election since the start of standard statistical records in 2008.

This postal voting count stands as a historic record for Spanish democracy, with a 99.08 percent increase over the 1,241,716 votes recorded in the April 28, 2019 general elections and an 82.06 percent rise over the 1,357,745 votes in the June 26, 2016 comparison.

Correos reported that 2,622,808 applications to vote by mail were accepted, marking a new historical high. The organization ensured that election documents were made available to candidates through hand delivery or in-person pickup at post offices.

The gap between applications and accepted votes stood at 5.8 percent, the lowest rate recorded across electoral processes since 2008, when the rate averaged around 7.3 to 7.8 percent in various elections.

Correos outlined the full spectrum of organizational, technological, logistical, and human resources deployed to fulfill the public service commitments during the voting process. The company highlighted more than 21,000 retrofit contracts for offices and delivery tasks at logistics centers.

Correos confirms it will send all 23J selection papers on Tuesday

Additionally, Correos took measures such as extraordinary Saturday and Sunday office openings, extended customer service hours at 654 offices nationwide to 10 pm, and extended opening on local holidays. The aim was to make mail voting as smooth and convenient as possible for voters.

Significant attention was given to weekend deliveries of election mail and to coordinating the postal logistics network so that ballots received at any public service point in Spain would reach the appropriate polling stations on the designated election day.

Distribution planned for 23J

On the July 23 election day, Correos will transport ballots cast by mail to polling places. A dedicated logistics deployment will involve more than 14,000 delivery personnel and a fleet of vehicles to ensure the process runs smoothly from offices to processing centers and polling stations.

The Valencian Community will be covered by a logistics team of over 970 professionals, with 342 in Alicante, 148 in Castellón, and 486 in Valencia.

Historic postal voting milestone: 2.6 million Spaniards requested ballots

When the ballot boxes are opened, a primary team from the public postal company will securely deliver the ballots to the appropriate locations. A second group will transport ballots that can be submitted during the day to the polling stations by mail. A final team will collect the so-called third envelope containing the official results from polling stations across the country.
