BBVA clients can now withdraw cash without visiting an ATM. A partnership with Correos enables cash withdrawals across Spain through the BBVA app, with money delivered directly to the customer’s home. The service is available to individual BBVA account holders in Spain, up to a daily limit of 499.99 euros, and delivery is possible to any address within Spain by Correos’ network of about 30,000 postal workers, including around 6,000 serving rural areas.
Delivery is always aligned with the home address linked to the account at the time of the request and cannot be altered during processing. To access cash, BBVA clients select the Correos Cash option in the bank app. They then choose the account from which funds will be dispensed, the delivery method (at a Correos office or to the home address), and the amount needed.
Upon requesting home delivery, the customer receives an SMS with the estimated arrival time after the request is processed. If the recipient is not at home at delivery time, the cash can be picked up the next business day at any Correos computerized office. The customer has seven natural days to complete the withdrawal as requested before the order expires.
Functionality
This feature marks a shift in how money is obtained from a bank. BBVA highlights its ongoing commitment to simplifying customers’ lives, whether through the mobile app, branch visits, or this new service that places cash at the doorstep. The initiative expands service coverage across the national territory and aims to provide a fast, convenient, and secure experience. It aligns with BBVA’s declared goal to improve everyday banking and broaden access to financial services in both rural and urban areas, a point noted by market observers and reflected in company communications.
Agreement
The new functionality is part of a broader collaboration framework between BBVA and Correos, designed to expand financial services throughout rural Spain. The collaboration builds on a joint protocol to enhance access to cash and banking services in areas where traditional banking infrastructure is sparse, reinforcing the banks’ commitment to inclusive service delivery.
In October, Correos Cash was launched, enabling cash withdrawals from approximately 2,400 Correos offices across Spain. By late January, the service had extended to 2,391 rural post offices, reaching more households and small communities. This expansion reflects a strategic effort to ensure residents in remote areas can perform essential cash transactions without traveling to urban centers or large branches, supported by Correos’ logistics network and BBVA’s digital banking tools.
At its core, the program demonstrates how digital banking and national logistics networks can collaborate to improve financial accessibility. By integrating mobile banking with physical cash access, BBVA and Correos are shaping a model for modern, inclusive banking that serves both city centers and countryside communities, as observed by observers and reported in corporate communications.
