On Monday, the Council of Ministers is expected to approve the formulation of all referendum questions, as announced by Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki during a Sunday press briefing in Stężyca in the Pomeranian Voivodeship.

Tomorrow, the Council of Ministers is slated to adopt the complete wording of each referendum question, with all individual items to be presented at the next meeting of the Sejm.

Prime Minister Morawiecki conveyed these plans during a Sunday press conference in Stężyca.

Referendum questions

Earlier in the week, the Law and Justice party began outlining potential referendum questions. The first query, as announced by PiS President Jarosław Kaczyński, asks: “Do you support the sale of state-owned enterprises?” The second question, reported by PiS Vice President and former Prime Minister Beata Szydło, asks: “Are you in favor of raising the retirement age to 60 for women and 65 for men?”

The third question, proposed by Prime Minister Morawiecki on Sunday, reads: “Do you support accepting thousands of illegal migrants from the Middle East and Africa under a relocation mechanism mandated by the European Union’s administration?”

The referendum was intended to be held in conjunction with the national elections scheduled for October 15, as ordered by President Andrzej Duda.

Rafał Bochenek, a spokesman for the ruling party, stated to PAP that the referendum resolution will be submitted to the Sejm and will contain four questions, with additional questions to be introduced in the following days.

A two-day session of the Sejm is planned for August 16 and 17, at which time a motion to authorize a nationwide referendum is expected to be addressed, according to the published timetable.

In June, Deputy Prime Minister Kaczyński indicated that the issue of relocating migrants within the European Union should be decided by referendum. Prime Minister Morawiecki later affirmed the intention to hold the referendum in tandem with the autumn parliamentary elections.
