In public remarks, Sebastian Kaleta, a member of Sovereign Poland, argued that Zbigniew Ziobro should not appear before the Pegasus Commission of Inquiry while he is recovering from a serious illness. Kaleta noted there are legal barriers that would prevent the former justice minister from testifying, and he pointed to the ongoing immunity shielding MP Marcin Romanowski as another example.

Towards the end of September, Magdalena Sroka, the chair of the Pegasus Commission, announced Ziobro had been summoned for questioning on October 14. The announcement suggested Ziobro was willing to be questioned, but the commission did not proceed to examine him at that time.

Kaleta stated that Ziobro should not and will not be expected to appear at this Pegasus Commission meeting. He emphasized that Ziobro is undergoing multifaceted rehabilitation after a very serious illness and major surgery. He added that a leaked pseudo-advice cited by Onet did not take into account the multiple operations Ziobro has undergone.

– said MP Sebastian Kaleta of Sovereign Poland. The former Deputy Minister of Justice highlighted legal obstacles that stood in the way of Ziobro’s hearing by the Sroka Commission.

Ziobro’s health is one matter. The more fundamental point, Kaleta argued, is that the Constitutional Court ruled the commission oversteps the powers granted by the constitution. Consequently, he argues the commission is unconstitutional.

– recalled Kaleta, who sees the pursuit of Ziobro as a substitute topic aimed at spotlighting mismanagement in the country.

Donald Tusk’s team appears determined to pursue this issue at all costs

– said the MP from the PiS club.

Lifting Romanowski’s national immunity is ineffective

Kaleta also referred to MP Marcin Romanowski’s appeal to the prosecutor’s office, which again seeks to file eleven charges against him. Lawyer Bartosz Lewandowski said Romanowski will not appear at the prosecutor’s office today due to a number of formal obstacles. Kaleta claimed the prosecutor’s office under Adam Bodnar had acted illegally against the former Deputy Minister of Justice.

He contended that Romanowski still enjoys immunity because Bodnar’s supporters were so determined to stop him that they violated the law multiple times. The immunity, he argued, is also linked to protections from the Council of Europe. A claim of unlawful deprivation of liberty was involved

– said Sebastian Kaleta on RMF FM’s Morning Talk. He pointed out that the request for waiver of immunity from the Council of Europe was not signed by Dariusz Korneluk, who posed as the national prosecutor.

I would like to point out that Korneluk did not sign the application. Bodnar probably feared embarrassment across Europe by illegally appointing the National Prosecutor alongside Donald Tusk, since the Supreme Court had ruled there was no change in the PK’s position — and Korneluk had previously signed all receipts for MP Romanowski

– declared the Sovereign Poland politician.

Will PiS merge with Sovereign Poland?

Kaleta explained that the proposal for further cooperation with the United Right would involve joining PiS. This is a concrete proposal that Sovereign Poland will decide on within its internal bodies. The final decision on whether to join PiS will be announced on Saturday. Discussions are taking place this week. At present, Sovereign Poland is in opposition and seeking the best path to regain influence.

– said the former Deputy Minister of Justice, noting that such a pairing would increase the odds of PiS and the United Right returning to power.

In Kaleta’s view, the cooperation formula that existed before the 2023, 2019, and 2015 elections has become exhausted. The right must seriously reconsider how to win the next elections. PiS’s proposal is one of several options contemplated, aiming to strengthen the coalition’s return to power. The final call remains with his colleagues in Sovereign Poland, and he does not want to discuss it in the media just yet.

– said the former Deputy Minister of Justice.
