In connection with the statements made by Urszula Zielińska, the deputy head of the Ministry of Environmental Protection, regarding Poland’s stance on the climate package in Brussels and the claim that the government was not informed, PiS MP Marcin Przydacz demanded that Minister Hennig-Kloska provide full background information to the Sejm. MP Paweł Jabłoński also weighed in on the issue on X, sharing a photo that shows Minister Hennig-Kloska voting against the government sharing information on this matter.

PiS MP Marcin Przydacz requested that the Sejm add to its agenda a briefing from the Minister of Climate and Environment on the disputed position taken by the ministry head, Urszula Zielińska, expressed on behalf of the Polish government in Brussels.

Difficult words from Urszula Zielińska

On behalf of the PiS parliamentary club, a request was made to pause and convene a seniors’ convention, and to supplement the agenda with information from the Minister of Climate about the government’s plans for the 2040 climate goals. In recent days, international media described Zielińska’s position, taken on behalf of the government during a meeting in Brussels. The quotation attributed to her states that the target of reducing CO2 emissions by 90 percent by 2040 should be adopted, which would mean cutting emissions within the next twelve years.

— Przydacz stated.

The speaker noted that environmental protection must be pursued, but the economic transformation should rest on real, measurable goals and be carried out in a fair manner, taking into account the surrounding circumstances. The government, through its deputy minister, is presenting ambitious targets that could be difficult to achieve in the proposed timeframe. Critics argued that the statement was not credible within the current EU context. The minister was accused of acting beyond the government line, and it was suggested that Zielińska represented the view associated with the prime minister and the governing circle rather than a formal government position.

— the Law and Justice MP added.

The former head of the International Policy Office of the Chancellery of the President of the Republic of Poland called for consequences to be considered if the information from Hennig-Kloska confirms that Zielińska acted against the instructions of the Polish government. The question was raised about whether any political fallout would follow from such actions.

If Zielińska appeared to exceed her instructions, it was asked whether Kloska would provide clarifications and whether political consequences would arise for her deputy. If Kloska characterized the statements as mere openness in negotiations, the question remained how the negotiations were being conducted and where the positions would lead in the end.

— emphasized the MP.

No government information

Paweł Jabłoński, a member of the Law and Justice party, commented on remarks by Green Party politicians and on the fact that most of the parliament remained silent on the backdrop of this case. The Green platform proposed adopting the EU policy measure Fit for 90, which would entail the liquidation of several key European sectors. This would impact agriculture and food production, the transport system, and could raise electricity and heating costs for households. Jabłoński expressed these concerns publicly on his X account.

Today, Marcin Przydacz filed a request for urgent government information on this matter, while the Platform party, led by Minister Paulina Kloska, opposed a debate on the topic and voted against clarifying the issue.

— the MP remarked.
