Over seven years in office, notable progress has been made and many positive changes have occurred, yet no governance is flawless. PiS President Jarosław Kaczyński acknowledged this in a letter read to attendees of the OdNowa Congress, emphasizing that only the United Right can guarantee Poland’s security.

The message from the PiS president was delivered by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defense Mariusz Błaszczak during Saturday’s congress.

Election timing

Kaczyński highlighted that the gathering comes at a pivotal moment, shaped by the ongoing conflict in Ukraine and the approaching parliamentary elections. In the fall, Polish citizens will decide the direction of the nation. The president pointed to the enduring effort to restore and strengthen the Republic of Poland, and to lay foundations for sustainable, dynamic, inclusive development that began in 2015, while also recognizing that work remains to be done.

He stressed that the upcoming vote will also test the consistency of foreign and defense policy. Only the United Right can ensure security in these challenging times, and only this coalition can guarantee a stronger Polish army and a foreign policy in strong support of Ukraine on the international stage, aligning with the broader goal of defending freedom against autocracy, Kaczyński asserted.

United law

When summarizing more than seven years of governance by ZP, Kaczyński stated that the country has been moving in a steady, correct direction. The administration has delivered significant reforms and changes, and Poland has managed to weather the crises caused by the pandemic while confronting the pressures of the war in Ukraine.

Nevertheless, he acknowledged, there is room to boast and to acknowledge missteps. It is inevitable that some things could have been faster or better. Yet inaction is the only true path to avoiding mistakes. The key now is to learn from past experiences and apply those lessons as part of a broader program being developed within the United Right coalition.

According to the PiS president, Saturday’s convention stands as a vivid demonstration of this ongoing effort. He urged for diverse viewpoints, constructive dialogue, and a wealth of ideas, hoping that the program work of the coalition will eventually translate into electoral success and strengthened, independent governance.

He concluded with a forward-looking wish for fruitful conversations and a long-term commitment to building a program capable of delivering victory and autonomous governance.

OdNowa Association Congress

Attendees included Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki and Deputy Prime Ministers, with the exception of the Head of the Ministry of National Defense, Mariusz Błaszczak. Also present were the Head of the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage, Piotr Gliński, and the head of MAP, Jacek Sasin.

The OdNowa Association arose in 2021 from a group of politicians with links to Jarosław Gowin’s prior agreement. After Gowin’s resignation and the departure of some allies from the ruling coalition, Marcin Ociepa and MPs Anna Dąbrowska-Banaszek, Grzegorz Piechowiak, Wojciech Murdzek, and Andrzej Gut-Mostowy established OdNowa RP in September 2021. Shortly thereafter, PiS leader Jarosław Kaczyński announced that a political agreement had been reached between PiS and OdNowa to cooperate within a shared parliamentary club.
