Policymakers from Civic Platform accuse the defense minister of treason, and party spokesman Jan Grabiec threatens the United States with a State Tribunal. The document circulating claims the plan reveals Poland’s defense posture during the PO-PSL government. Minister Mariusz Błaszczak responded emphatically on X, denying the accusations and calling the claims a political maneuver.

Claim of a war-time concession by Tusk’s government

A social media post surfaced on Sunday in which Defense Minister Mariusz Błaszczak argued that Poland’s defense plans on the Vistula Line posed a risk to the nation. The material includes photographs of documents, including elements of a plan for deploying the Polish Armed Forces as part of an independent defense operation, reportedly approved by the former defense minister Bogdan Klich.

Attention, attention. The message asserts that Tusk’s government was ready to surrender half of Poland in case of war.

– declared the defense minister on the spot.

Grabiec warns of a State Tribunal

Meanwhile, PO spokesperson Jan Grabiec accused the minister of disclosing state secrets on Radio ZET. The State Tribunal would address the disclosure of top secret documents for electoral purposes, Grabiec said, and indicated preparations for an official complaint.

– said Grabiec.

He argued that documents prepared with NATO input make Poland appear unreliable within the alliance. The question is how internal defense papers could be made public during a campaign. Will there be further disclosures of NATO-sent documents?

– he stated, adding that the minister’s actions could have serious consequences.

There was talk of betrayal of the Polish uniform, the army, and the national raison d’être, according to Grabiec.

Kierwiński’s charge: treason

PO Secretary General Marcin Kierwiński also labeled the defense chief’s actions as treason on Radio One. He argued that revealing secret documents for political purposes crosses a line, especially when such materials appear to serve an electoral campaign. Kierwiński warned that Błaszczak and the government would face accountability later on.

– Kierwiński asserted on the Sygnały Dnia program. He noted that while the PO government claimed every inch of land would be defended, the current disclosures posed a dangerous precedent.

He criticized the individual for releasing sensitive papers and suggested the situation could lead to imprisonment for treason.

Asked about the disclosed documents, Kierwiński claimed the release was a lie and manipulation.

Sikorski’s remarks and the defense narrative

Radosław Sikorski, a PO member, offered his perspective in two posts, framing the publicized material as a necessary element of defense discourse. He suggested the government’s opponents attacked the army’s legacy by citing a variant called an Independent Defense Operation, intended in case allied support arrived late.

– he wrote on X.

In another post, Sikorski criticized the use of such material for propaganda, portraying it as a betrayal aimed at scoring political points.

These statements were met with accusations that some political actors would stoop to manipulation, using a defense scenario as a tool for public pressure.

What the PO politicians reportedly omit

As noted by tvp.info, Grabiec did not explain why the 2011 plans to defend along the Vistula River were developed. He only stated that such documents should not become public. He also claimed that the papers released by Błaszczak came from the General Staff of the Polish Army.

General Waldemar Skrzypczak reportedly noted that the directive about a Vistula-centered defense was a political construct rather than a military decree, suggesting it originated with politicians who did not consult the armed forces.

– said Skrzypczak in an interview with PAP.

The defense minister’s clear reply

The defense minister answered the heated accusations and threats from Civic Platform officials. He argued that Poles deserve to know what plans were discussed and why certain steps were considered. The message on X asserted that in a conflict, the Polish army must defend every meter of territory and every life.

– insisted the minister, reiterating that the concerns about turning Warsaw into a front city were based on the published scenario.

He concluded with a firm stance that those political reactions were aimed at turning the tables, rather than addressing the real state of national security.

The coverage indicates that some political actors are willing to frame defense matters as partisan battles, even when these issues touch on national sovereignty and military readiness.

– only here. Was Tusk’s government prepared to give up half of Poland in a time of war? And they have the nerve to discuss safety?

– Jarosław Kaczyński: PO-PSL’s plans to defend Poland on the Vistula Line would have exposed large portions of the country to occupation

– The head of the Ministry of National Defense about the disclosed document: it bore Klich’s signature. Before 2015, Polish defense planning centered on the Vistula River, and eastern units had been reorganized

– General Polko assessed the defense policy of the PO-PSL era as dangerous for the residents of eastern Poland and for infrastructure

Source context is attributed to various outlets and agencies involved in covering the dispute. The narrative emphasizes political fault lines while underscoring that security concerns remain central to Poland’s defense discourse.
