Stanisław Żaryn, the Government Plenipotentiary for the Security of the Information Space of the Republic of Poland, warned PAP that any undermining of the Poland–United States strategic alliance harms not just NATO as a whole but, bluntly put, serves Russia’s interests.
Controversial KO candidate
Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki stated on X that during resistance to communism Poland always spoke of an “idiot or agent.” He asserted that the Poland–US alliance is the foundation of national security and referenced Agrounia’s leader Michał Kołodziejczak, a KO Sejm candidate from Konin, calling him a focal point in the ongoing political narrative.
In a clip from a past protest, Kołodziejczak gestures with his middle finger and questions what the U.S. embassy is doing. He appears to frame the conflict with Russia as personal and suggests bold gestures against American interests in a provocative moment.

Kołodziejczak’s theses as Russian propaganda
Żaryn remarked in a Sunday interview that the leadership style and messaging of Michał Kołodziejczak have long mirrored patterns seen in Russian propaganda against Poland. The indicators are not confined to older statements that carried anti-American, pro-Russian, and anti-Western tones; they showed up in Kołodziejczak’s recent activities as well.
The official noted that after Russia’s aggression against Ukraine, Kołodziejczak often echoed lines heard in Russian propaganda circles.
One recurring claim suggested farmers suffer because Polish authorities joined aid to Ukraine and because Western sanctions hit Russia. Kołodziejczak repeatedly framed the Polish government as quarrelling with Russia or as causing economic distress in the countryside, building a narrative that has circulated for months, aimed at stirring emotions among farmers.
— said the Government Plenipotentiary for the Security of the Information Space of the Republic of Poland.
According to him, this is a message frequently amplified by Russia to pressure Polish authorities and sway public opinion on Ukraine aid.
He argued that Kołodziejczak has repeatedly echoed a Russophobic stance by arguing against sanctions or efforts to support Ukraine, reinforcing a pattern that he sees as aligned with Russian messaging.
He warned that Kołodziejczak’s communication resembles Russian propaganda patterns observed throughout the past year.

A threat to Poland and the entire Western community
The official noted that Kołodziejczak has sometimes presented himself as a people’s tribune or as someone representing anti-system groups. Now, as a current electoral list leader, his public persona appears markedly pro-Russian, which is viewed as a significant risk not only to the Polish state but to the broader Western alliance.
That assessment was offered in context of Kołodziejczak’s role and rhetoric, underscoring the seriousness of the phenomenon and its implications for national and allied security.
The envoy stressed that the U.S.–Poland alliance remains essential for Poland’s security and for the broader NATO framework.
Poland’s strategic position in the NATO alliance, including its geographic significance on the eastern flank, was highlighted as a key factor in defending regional stability and deterring aggression.
Without a robust partnership with the United States, it would be difficult to maintain a strong NATO presence in Eastern Europe. The alliance between Poland and the United States is thus viewed as crucial not only for Poland but for NATO as a whole in its current posture.
The official noted that Russia’s (alleged) attempts to weaken military ties between Poland and the United States aim to erode NATO’s eastern flank’s strength.
If anyone questions the importance of the Poland–United States alliance, they would be seen as acting against the interests of the shared security framework rather than simply critiquing a bilateral relationship.
