The head of AgroUnion, Michał Kołodziejczak, who led the KO candidate list in Konin, drew attention to a claim about Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki by invoking the memory of Morawiecki’s late father. In his account, Kołodziejczak described hospital visits connected to his discussions about politics with Kornel Morawiecki and noted additional visits to the elder Morawiecki’s home. He stated these recollections during an interview with RMF FM and suggested that the memory of Kornel Morawiecki’s concerns influenced political life in the years before his passing.
“I will not stay in debt”
During the interview, Kołodziejczak was asked about remarks concerning Kornel Morawiecki. The late figure, who served as a long-time mentor and elder statesman, was described by Kołodziejczak as having warned for his son Mateusz Morawiecki in the final years of his life. Kołodziejczak recalled his own hospital visits, including an instance when Kornel Morawiecki invited him to his home to discuss political matters and later to his apartment.
Kołodziejczak recalled the host’s remark that the time near Morawiecki’s deathbed had ended, and he reflected on the illness that marked the end of that stage. When pressed about statements attributed to another former member of Fighting Solidarity, Kołodziejczak asserted that he had seen the prime minister’s father on multiple occasions. He emphasized his intention not to quote more conversations, noting that he would not be indebted to political attacks from the ruling camp and that he would reveal what methods were used if needed.
When asked whether he possessed photographs with Kornel Morawiecki, Kołodziejczak responded that he would reveal them if necessary. He asserted that the truth was on his side and that he would not back down from presenting evidence if required.
“The truth is on my side”
After the program, Kołodziejczak demonstrated a photo with Kornel Morawiecki from 2018 or 2019 but claimed additional evidence of a meeting in the hospital existed, though he did not intend to disclose it all. In response to concerns that such claims could amount to unsubstantiated insinuations, Kołodziejczak rejected the charges, arguing that the prime minister used insinuation about alleged pro-Russian tendencies to deflect scrutiny. He maintained that the assertions about Morawiecki were not lies and that he would show what the Prime Minister is like when needed.
Kołodziejczak urged audiences to trust that the truth was on his side and added that his stance also extended to his approach toward American policies. He stated that he could apologize for past gestures toward American officials, while criticizing the perception of Mateusz Morawiecki as a friend of Viktor Orbán and as someone involved with European militia concerns. He called for an apology for meetings with European militias, arguing that such associations should be scrutinized.
“F… for Americans” and abortion
In Konin, Kołodziejczak addressed abortion policy in response to questions from a KO delegate. He discussed how Donald Tusk might approach liberalizing abortion and how KO members would respond. He suggested that the current political moment required a focus on freedom of choice, personal autonomy, education, and informed decision-making, while acknowledging that the party would need to consider the opinions of women as a priority.
Kołodziejczak asserted that he would respect women’s choices and insisted that the law and provisions would be examined carefully along with women’s perspectives. He also remarked that he would support women determining the outcome of such matters and affirmed his intent to preserve space for personal decision-making in Poland.
When Terlikowski noted potential tensions between different views on abortion within the KO and suggested a risk to Kołodziejczak’s standing on the party list, Kołodziejczak urged calm. He argued that the foremost goal is to grant Polish people freedom and the ability to make independent decisions without facing discrimination for those choices.
The discussion touched on political messaging, with Kołodziejczak accused of echoing the broader movement’s rhetoric while avoiding unnecessary detail. The piece reflected a stance that combined assertive critique of opponents with a call for greater personal and political autonomy in Poland.
