On TVP1, PiS Secretary General Krzysztof Sobolewski stated that there is a plan to cooperate on election listings with Solidarna Polska and that talks with Sovereign Poland about joint lists lie ahead. He was asked whether politicians from Sovereign Poland would join forces on the electoral slate with PiS.
He said that there is an agreement to run with the Solidarna Polska delegation and that discussions with Sovereign Poland are still to come, indicating a gradual process toward a broad united front.
Sobolewski added that he supports continuing the approach that proved successful in 2015 and 2019, when the united right-wing camp secured a decisive mandate from Polish voters on the path to the elections. He expressed hope that representatives from Sovereign Poland would also be included on their lists.
The PiS secretary general noted that the final form of the election lists would be decided during the upcoming holiday season.
In 1999, Solidarna Polska held its convention, after which the party adopted the name Sovereign Poland. Sobolewski referenced this history as part of the evolving political landscape in Poland.
“Death to Death”
During an appearance on the program Political Quarter on TVP1, Sobolewski was questioned about the case of eight-year-old Kamil, who died after injuries inflicted by his mother’s partner. He expressed sympathy for the family and echoed a sentiment voiced by Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki, stating that for such perpetrators, the ultimate punishment could be death in a moral sense, while noting that Poland’s legal framework does not provide for the death penalty today.
He emphasized that the current European and Polish legal framework excludes the death penalty from civilized systems, adding that a domestic violence amendment, which came into effect in June, aims to curb similar cases in the future.
Regarding Kamil’s case, Sobolewski pointed out that signals and complaints had been directed to the court, which did not process them with the seriousness he believes the matter deserved. He suggested that the court could have acted differently in response to those signals.
Kamil, eight, from Częstochowa, suffered abuse from his mother’s partner and died at the Upper Silesian Children’s Health Center in Katowice after more than a month of treatment. The boy had been hospitalized with severe injuries since April 3. Police intervened, and he was transported to the hospital by helicopter. On April 5, doctors from GCZD informed about extensive burns to the head, torso, and limbs, along with multiple fractures.
