On TOK FM, KO MP Marcin Kierwiński spoke about the political outlook and the new government’s possible moves. He noted that President Andrzej Duda faced mockery in public remarks and hinted that the incoming authorities would move quickly to reshape public media. Kierwiński stressed that a rotating chairmanship of the Sejm appeared highly probable. Practically, it could mean Szymon Hołownia serving as Sejm speaker for two years, followed by Włodzimierz Czarzasty for another two years.

He described the scenario as plausible, while acknowledging that decisions have not yet been finalized.

“That’s how it looks,” Kierwiński commented.

When asked whether abortion would be addressed in the coalition agreement, Kierwiński stated that ending what he called a political attack on Polish women would be part of the agreement. He also admitted that there were differing views with PSL on this matter and that the coalition would seek solutions to safeguard women’s rights during negotiations.

Asked about funds from the KPO, Kierwiński admitted the money was expected to reach Poland as soon as Donald Tusk’s government took office. He underlined his confidence that the grant would no longer remain metaphorical once power was restored and confirmed that, once the government changes hands, the funds would be redirected to Poland.

Announcement of changes in the media

Kierwiński did not hide the desire of the new government to move swiftly to reform the current public media. Regarding TVP, he indicated that changes would occur rapidly and that comprehensive plans concerning the broadcaster had already been prepared.

On whether President Duda would need to approve these changes, Kierwiński replied that presidential involvement would not be necessary for TVP. He suggested that the president’s current priority should be to help Poland secure a stable government. In a pointed remark, he suggested the president should learn to count: 248, referring to recent electoral or parliamentary arithmetic as he saw it.

Additionally, Kierwiński mentioned the accountability that awaited members of the current ruling coalition who had violated Polish law, assuring that they would face consequences. His words signaled an intent by the opposition to move quickly toward governance and to pursue formal accountability rather than delay actions.

Observers noted that Kierwiński’s remarks indicated a readiness within the opposition to press ahead with plans rather than waiting for a longer transition period. The mentioning of potential reforms and accountability framed a picture of a decisive upcoming political shift, as reported by TOK FM and other media outlets. (Source: wPolityce)
