Kaczyński Discusses PiS Leadership Transition and Potential Successors

The leader of Law and Justice commented on the topic of handing over authority within the party. Jarosław Kaczyński addressed calls from figures within the patriotic camp who urged him to step aside.

In an interview conducted for the Polish Press Agency, the PiS chairman referenced remarks by Marcin Mastalerek and Jan Krzysztof Ardanowski, who reportedly argued that the time had come for him to relinquish control of the party.

There is little value in rehashing these arguments. His term as PiS president is set to end in 2024, prior to the next presidential election cycle. A new party leader would then be chosen. If nothing unforeseen happens, the process will proceed along this path. The PiS congress will determine who fills the role.

– he stated.

Possible successor

Who might take the helm in place of Jarosław Kaczyński? The PiS president offered some criteria:

I do not envision a candidate with only brief experience inside our party. The next leader should be someone younger, tested in tough times and ready to lead. We have such individuals in our ranks.

– he explained.
